Back to the basics

This might be a week late but I want to greet everyone a Happy New Year!! I hope your year is off to a great start. Mine started pretty awesome. I finally started one of my 2017 obsessions and that’s to recreate our living room. Good thing my husband is up for it this time. We bought a new coffee table, ordered a brick wallpaper and bought new decors for the area (I promise to share it with you once it’s done). The weather last week was awesome and it was the perfect time to go home shopping. And since I know I needed to be pretty flexible, I chose to wear something simple and basic.

The return of denim overalls

I am, undeniably, a 90s kid. I still know almost all of Spice Girls and Backstreet Boys songs by heart. My father used to buy me tapes of solo artists and bands I saw on MTV and I am proud to say that I still own a cassette player until we moved to Canada. I enjoyed my childhood that much that’s why I find it fascinating that the fashion industry are bring back some 90s trend. It’s like bringing back a part of my childhood. One thing that I didn’t saw coming is the return of denim overalls. I used to hate wearing those as a kid but I’m actually excited to wear it again.

All bundled up!

Winter has officially began and no amount of layers can keep me warm anymore. It is what it is and I don’t really have a choice but to bundle up. Oversized and bulky sweaters are my best bet as we are down to -27C my dear friends. Actually, I didn’t even know I have one until my sister posted a selfie on her Instagram story haha! If I am not mistaken I bought the sweater during my trip in Toronto. My sister also gave me an oversized coat for Christmas which I think is a perfect match.

Ways to style your knit sweater

There’s no doubt that sweater is a must have this season. Sweaters are probably one of the first thing you look for when colder season comes in. But like every other basic, it can be dull and boring once you start wearing them almost everyday. I don’t like wearing the same top all the time but since it is too comfy, I can’t let go of sweaters just yet. So I found a few ways to style this staple and what’s best is that I don’t need to buy new clothes… just have to dig deep in my closet and create a mess out of it lol

Little black velvet dress

Velvet dresses are back in style again, especially this winter. It’s fabric gives a sophisticated and festive look which makes it as a definite staple in my wardrobe. I wore this black velvet dress during my husband’s Christmas party at work. Dresses with corsets are also becoming a trend again, and I love it because it gives a little flirty vibe. Now, the accessories. I was shopping at Forever 21 when I saw this gold necklace, which I think matched the dress. The gold headband also created a new vibe on the outfit.

What body love truly feels like

“You are beautiful no matter what size you are in.” This is what I tell myself everyday. For so many years, I have grown to be the person who loves and accepts their body. To let no one make me insecure. Believe me, it was quite a process. I have always been the fat kid.. I can’t even think of a day I wasn’t. Loving the body I have is one thing, keeping that confidence is another story.

Winter OOTD mix and match

I find it hard to dress up in winter because of two things. First, winter clothes are an investment, they are not cheap. Second, I find it more practical to just dress in random long sleeves and double coats than to be stylish. Comfort over style my dear friends lol. So yesterday, my husband and I went on a date and I had a hard time deciding what to wear. I dug into my wardrobe and looked for something decent and fortunately, I found something. The look is pretty stylish and the best part was I didn’t spend a dime!

My top 2017 fall outfits

It might still be fall on some other countries but in Canada, we already started winter last week. Fall has always been one of my favourite season and I always look forward to dressing up in fall time. I also love mixing and matching clothes with different scarves, coats and boots. Today, I am going to share some of the outfits I have worn last season.. just because it can still be fall for the most of you (you lucky, lucky you lol)

Summer mix and match

I love, love, LOVE summer. After almost six months of snowing, we finally have some nice weather here in Edmonton 😉 As you can see, dresses are my favourite fashion staple. However, I like wearing shorts and cardigans too! In fact, I was already hoarding summer clothes back in December! One of the things I bought on boxing day, was a floral wrap-up maxi dress from Forever 21. What I like about this wrap-up dress is that I can wear it in two ways. Today, I’ll be sharing a look, wearing this dress as a cardigan, for casual days and maybe festivals as well.

Happy Hippie (Post engagement shoot)

Today was our engagement shoot and it was so much fun! As much as I love having my photos taken (lol okay so this might really sound too egocentric haha), I find it awkward posing for a professional photographer. Along with the photos, we also had our videographer a while ago to shoot our wedding teaser. We had our shoot at Whyte Ave because it’s one of the hippest part of Edmonton and we wanted to have less rustic themed photos as possible. The shoot ended at 2PM and because it was nice out, I grabbed this opportunity to do a quick OOTD lol. I’ll also share our official engagement photos in the coming days. So if you’ll notice that I’m wearing the same dress, you already know why ;P
